We here at Rising Sun Montessori Daycare believe teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth. In Montessori education, the environment is adapted to the child’s needs and their development. Through nurturing and significant care we will always strive to maintain a rich Montessori learning environment to enable the child to reach their greatest potential. We believe each and every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world. We will help children to develop their strengths by accrediting them as capable individuals.

We will assist each child in discovering who they are, so they can express their own thoughts and cultivate their ideas. Our Centre provides an enriched daycare curriculum whichallows the child to develop independence, fulfill responsibilities and acquire soundknowledge through their experiences.

PRACTICAL LIFE

The purpose of Practical Life is to help the child

acquire control in the coordination of their movement, and help the child to obtain independence and adapt to their environment. Children are naturally interested in activities they have perceived. Practical Life Exercises are meant to bear resemblance toeveryday activities, it is important that all materials be familiar, real and functional. The aim of Sensorial work is for the child to attain clear, conscious information and to be able to then make classifications in their environment.

SENSORIAL

Sensorial Exercises are designed to cover every quality that can be perceived by the senses such as size, shape, composition, texture, loudness or softness, matching, weight, temperature, etc. The

Exercises cover such a wide range of senses that

Maria Montessori categorized the Exercises into eight different groups: Visual, Tactile, Baric, Thermic, Auditory,Olfactory, Gustatory, and Stereognostic.

LANGUAGE

The young child has a natural sensitivity for language. Thus, the language program begins immedately and is continuously meshed into the life of the class. The Montessori language curriculum is an integrated approach that combines phonetics and the whole language. The materials used support the three aspects in the child's language development such as: speaking, writing and reading. The child is

exposed to an exceptional amount of vocabulary attained in the class. The child is encouraged to gain proficiency in the different skills necessary to be able to comprehend the operations of reading

and writing.

MATHEMATICS

The idea of quantity is fundamental in all the

Montessori mathematic materials.Dr. Montessori designed materials that help the child to comprehend the abstract concepts of numbers, quantity and numeric sense. The child learns

how to develop an understanding of numbers

through the use of concrete Material. Operations in Addition, Subtraction, multiplication and Division are made absolute through the use of the specifically designed materials.

CULTURAL STUDIES

Cultural studies teach the children about our world. It is Science, geography, biology and the studies of human life. Geography teaches the children about land, air and water. The children learn about the seven continents and the oceans. Biology consists of learning about the human body and how to care for it. The children will also learn about botany (plants). This is where the children learn about parts of the leaf, tree, and flower, as well as how to care for the environment. In science children learn through experiments. They learn the first steps of how to conduct experiments. Children are introduced to simplistic science concepts such as magnets and the magnifying glass

KIND WORDS

Here are just a few kind words from our families.

Our son has been going to Raising Sun Montessori for only two months and we have been really happy about it. When he first arrived there, he couldn’t speak any English. However, the staff is always caring and understanding, respecting his time and helping him learn and develop in another language. Now, he’s able to communicate and socialize, he has made many friends, he has learned a lot and he’s always happy to go to school. It’s really impressive what they were able to do and achieve in only two months. I’d definitely recommend this school to any parent who is looking for a loving environment for their kids.

“We saw that our son was well looked after at Rising Sun Montessori, and our family was treated with kindness and respect. The staff were lovely and I knew my son was in great hands there. He would always refer to the staff as his ‘friends’ which showed us that they created a safe, positive and fun environment for the children each day.”

Kerry - Tadhg’s mom

My daughter and I fell in love with Rising Sun Montessori from the moment we visited : all-wood toys and learning tools displayed according to Montessori principles, big open space, plant based snacks, and amazingly kind caregivers/teachers.
Pooja and her mother are passionate about what they do and my daughter has been learning a lot in a short period of time.
I could not have dreamed of a better place for my daughter’s first daycare.
Highly recommend !
